Wells Fargo wanted a new application to replace the manual preparation & processing of MICR (also: POD, or Proof of Deposit) tickets in the line offices & operations areas. The plan was to eliminate the vast majority of paper ticket entries to Wells Fargo Bank's General Ledger.
The solution was WEPOD (Wholesale Electronic Proof of Deposit) which uses a user-friendly, web-based, front-end interface accessed from a user's desktop via the bank's intranet. The front-end architecture is a series of screens displayed using HTML and Java and the WEPOD database is Oracle. The back-end is RPS/WIN, a vendor package sold by Checkfree and supported in an Oracle Windows NT environment. All interfaces conform to the Wells Fargo standards for using Windows NT, UNIX, Java, Oracle, WebSphere, and General Ledger system interface requirements.
